Utah Fruit and Vegetable Association

The Utah Fruit and Vegetable Association (UFAVA) is dedicated to anyone who loves to grow fruits or vegetables in Utah, regardless of location or size of a grower's garden or farm. UFAVA is for farmers, hobbyists, small growers, and anyone interested in growing, canning, preserving, and enjoying food.

Wasatch Front Last Frost/Planting Dates

The average last frost date for most communities along the Wasatch Front is anywhere from the last part of April to mid May. Higher mountain valleys will have later last frost dates. Check the link below to determine the typical last frost date for your area.

When planting your summer vegetables you should keep two things in mind: air temperature and soil temperature. Because of the very warm spring we've had so far, soil temperature are basically ready for tender summer crops anytime. The last weekend of April will turn colder, but the temps are predicted to stay above freezing. The soil temperature will dip a little as well, but we are getting close to safe planting weather for the tomatoes, squash and other summer delights.
